Tabber.js has an example code snippet (under ‘Advanced’) to manually show a tab — see http://www.barelyfitz.com/projects/tabber/ . You should be able to do it by calling the tabShow() method on the tabber object, which is attached to the containing div of your tabbed content (div.tabber in my example).
